Somewhere around rank 16, upper-level upgrades become really interesting, and once you achieve rank 31, "A pop alypse" mode becomes available, where bloons come at you non-stop until you run out of lives.
NinjaKiwi has gone further and added even more upgrades that can be purchased with mochi coins, such as upgrades that bring in more money, turn your buccaneer into a dreadnaught, turn your boomerang monkey into a two-handed thrower, etc.
These upgrades are fun cheats, but are not necessary to play the game. An additional seven paths are also available for purchase as well.
Bloons veterans who don't want to work their way up the ranks can also purchase rank 31 immediately. According to NinjaKiwi, a new feature will be coming soon hopefully by mid-November which allows you to create your own paths!
Challenge your friends! Or just go bananas. Some might complain about the mochi coins, but BTD4 can generate hours of fun without ever having to go near the purchasable content.
So kick back, peel a banana, and begin the balloon popping fun! Play Bloons Tower Defense 4. Affects up to bloons at once.

Boomerang Throwers are not-so-cheap, not-so-strong and not a lot of range, making it perfect for the levels before blimps.
Bomb Towers are quite expensive and have splash damage. Last upgrade is especially effective for blimps. Does 10x damage to MOABs and BFBs, normal damage to everything else.
The Ice Tower freezes bloons, allowing other towers to shoot at them for a longer time. Frozen bloons are like lead bloons, immune to sharp things.
Increases attack range for all towers in range. Most useful with super monkeys. Its effects do not stack. Destroys everything except blimps, with a cost of and a reload time of 1 minute and 30 seconds.
The archmage uses whirlwinds to take them back, all bloons in whirlwind will be unglued and unfrozen Permafrost effects are also negated.

Unfortunately this is only really available on faster computers, we're trying to think of a clever solution though! I don't understand the second loopy intermediate level--it is too hard to follow the path they are taking.
Anyhow, props to you NinjaKiwi-this game is a blast though maybe it is because I never played the other BTD games. Use two spike ball monkeys at the base of the straight area, with their aiming set on "first" Their spike balls will travel down the line and decrease each of the balloons by one level Great fun, as expected!
I was a bit concerned that the extra towers might be a bit too much, but in fact they complement the existing ones quite well.
The easy track on intermediate difficulty was possibly a little too easy - I didn't lose any lives and only had to resort to road spikes on a couple of occasions.
But I guess it's a good introduction if you're not familiar with the game. Im having quite an annoying problem, this keeps crashing my browser.
I have a high end machine and all the latest plugin versions. Any ideas? I can't even get this to load on Firefox or IE.
Every load now gives a white screen, I'm wondering if the site is overloaded. I generally like the BTD games, but all the 'mochi' stuff is a real letdown.
It seems like at every point they're trying to upsell me. Not only that, but the little indicator in the upper-lefthand corner of the screen telling me how many mochi-points I have 0 gets in the way of the gameplay -- can't seem to place a tower there unless I'm in the middle of a round.
I would say they're being hammered at the moment so try again a bit later. I was having the same issue, though after a few refreshes it worked albeit loaded very slowly.
Excellent, of course, but the improvement over BTD3 is minimal. A few new balloon types and a few new tower types. And they removed the branching upgrades, which is lame - now if you want to add blades to the tack shooter but don't need the range upgrade, too bad; you have to buy the range upgrade no matter what.
This seems to mostly just add a little superficial complexity and eye candy but not many new ideas.
BTD3 is one of the greatest TD games of all time, and this is about as good - so it is very good, indeed. You wish they could have taken it to another level instead of just adding a few marginal upgrades.
And a review note: NinjaKiwi has changed the dynamics of the game for the fourth installment. That's only on the first playthrough; once something is unlocked it is then unlocked from the very beginning of any new games you start.
So I wouldn't say they have changed the dynamics, really - it'd be more accurate to say that they added a forced tutorial mode. You can get the frag bomb mochi upgrade for free, but you still need to open an account.
I don't agree with these "premium" upgrades at all is this foreshadowing that BTD5 is going to be an all pay game? I dont know whats wrong for me.
I'm actually not bothered that much by the Mochicoins stuff
